When a family is involved in the midst of a war, and the head of the family is the leader of a war: That dramatically impacts the Entire Family. The family consciousness takes on the understanding of a warfare mindset. That includes the marriage relationship.
Both husband and wife are keenly aware that the enemy is bent on the destruction of their marriage, and the carving up of their kingdom. And the enemy does not play fair. He is ruthless, and will do unspeakable evil to keep this family from fulfilling their God Given Callings.
The Accuser is constantly sending out lies and accusations, trying to stir up division, confusion, fear, doubt, and deep insecurities.
In such a scenario, do we find ourselves.
Jesus, as the groom, has gone to the house of his betrothal (bride). He has given the gift of the Mohar, the bride Price, as a down payment to support her, during this transition of homes. The Mohar (bride price), has several uses.
The Mohar (bride price), primarily serves as a symbolic gesture of gratitude from the groom's family to the bride's family, compensating them for the loss of their daughter's labor and companionship. Economically, it acts as a form of social security for the bride, providing her with a financial safety net in the event of widowhood or divorce. Furthermore, the payment of Mohar legitimizes the marriage in the eyes of the community, establishing the legal and social rights of the children born from the union. Finally, it functions as a mechanism for strengthening alliances between two families, fostering mutual respect and long-term cooperation.
Compensation: It acknowledges the cost of raising the bride.
Security: It acts as a dowry or insurance for the woman.
Legitimacy: It makes the marriage official and recognized by the community.
Alliance: It builds a bridge between two families.
Respect: It demonstrates the groom's commitment and ability to support a wife.
Once, he has shared the cup of wine, which has sealed the marriage covenant. He returns home to his father's house to build and finish the addition, the place for his bride to come.
In the interim. The bride is choosing to remain faithful and dedicated to the marriage covenant. She is preparing herself for her union with her husband. In a very short time, in the twinkling of an eye, the shofar (trumpet) will sound. The announcement will ring out.
Matthew 25:6 (KJV) And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Then those who were ready and waiting will join the wedding party, with oil in their lamps. They were expecting this very moment and were prepared for it.
