What is the Proof of our Salvation?
Yes. Back to our sure foundation: John 14:15
"If ye love me,
Keep My Commandments."
--John 14:15 (KJV)
One thing is clear.
Those who love Jesus ----> Keep his commandments.
Those who don't love Jesus, don't keep his commandments.
That is not A "Works Salvation" message.
The Verse ABOVE (& further below)--is a comprehensive Commandment, given from Jesus's Mouth to Our Ears, and calls us into a place of direct self-inspection, and self-examination. Again, these are the very words and message of Jesus on the night he was betrayed.
Yes. Yes. Yes. We are saved by Grace, and that WORK is not of ourselves, lest anyone of us should dare to boast. We are saved by Faith, trusting in the WORK done for us on the Cross.
Yet, also: This one thing is crystal clear: We are not saved so that we can return to our sin, and serve the king of sin, and fellowship with the devil, walking in Harmony IN his rebellion to God, for the rest of our days with impunity. That was never God's Purpose for sending his Son, to die on the Cross.
No sir. Not on your life. Such a thought Is repulsive to even think about.
We are saved to get out of our sin! To be free from sin. To be free from the evil master of the flesh. We, who love Jesus, are born again by the power of the Spirit--through the grace of God--I AM SAVED.
That is the WORK I could not do.
I deserved to die, to be separated from God for eternity.
Nothing I could do, could change that.
I was unclean, unholy, unacceptable, and just plain ugly, filthy, and abhorrible in heaven's sight, that is until a man chose to come and rescue me from my sin.
" ... while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:6-9 (KJV) 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
I deserved His WRATH, but in Christ, I received MERCY.
Thankfully, Jesus took on my sin, rebellion, transgressions, iniquities, damnations, judgments, and nailed them all to the cross. Every evil thing I have done against God, ever said, or even thought, against everyone of God's Children, he has chosen to forgiven me. Because of Jesus' death on the Cross, God was pleased to give me a new life. Because of Jesus' death on the cross, God was able to satisfy justice, and still bring me mercy.
Why? Because of his pure goodness, love, patience, and mercy. He paid a debt he did not owe. So I could receive a gift I could not earn. My response to his great goodness and kindness IS THIS: I choose to die daily to my old life. I put off THE OLD MAN (the mindset of rebellion in the life of Adam), and I chose by God's Grace, to put on THE NEW MAN (The Man Christ Jesus, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God).
As such, I choose to continue to hear his voice, and to follow him, as my good Shepherd, heavenly King, righteous judge, and eternal savior.
Through our great love and deep respect and high honor, for all that Jesus has done, we return honor to God by caring for us, by caring about his Commandments. We seek to learn how we can honor them.
By keeping them and growing in them: There is great reward, as we grow into the likeness of Jesus. As it turns out, Jesus Commandments are designed to protect us. Protect us from the enemy. Protect us from self-harm. Protect others around us. To protect us from falling back into sin, falling back into the pit of darkness. Falling back into the devil's grip. We died to our old life so that we could live in Christ's new life.
7 Eternal Verses, that carry the weight of the World, and lift it up unto Heaven.
Psalms 19:7-14 (KJV)
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors?
cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me:
then shall I be upright,
and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth,
and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
We overcome all evil: by the blood of the lamb, and by walking out the very words, and teachings, and sayings, and commandments of Jesus. By abiding in Jesus and in His Commandments, we protect ourselves, our families, and our friendships, and even our enemies.
They overcame him (Satan)
by the blood of the Lamb ...
Revelation 12:10-11 (KJV)
10 "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him:
by the blood of the Lamb,
and by the word of their testimony;
and they loved not their lives unto the death."
In Keeping Jesus Commandments we carry with us a good, sound, undeniable, holy and pure testimony for all to see, and all to share, by the word of our invitation, we are commanded to share His Word, including his commandments with High and Low, Rich and Poor, Proud and Humble, Strong and Weak. It is one size fits all.
Keeping Jesus commandments, may not save us intially, but they keep us saved for eternity.
Our response to Jesus authority, proves who we want to serve for eternity, and who we want to reject.
God places two roads before our feet. Which ever road we take will end in destination of that road.
Therefore God bids us to choose wisely, to choose carefully. Both roads promise to have suffering inherent in them. The heavenly striaght road, promises a limited suffering, in this life, along with many heavenly blessings.
The hell-bent crooked road, promises limited suffering in this this, along with carnal blessings, but in the end, it
When we choose the narrow way, our final destination is heaven.
When we choose the broad road, our final destination is the lake of fire.
That is the message. That is the one thing we can be certain of.
Jesus died so we can be certain.
As you prepare yourself for your entrance into heaven, may God give you HIS WIDOM every step of the way.
